WOW… so it finally happened. After nearly 3 years on the market for the first time EVER this months PS4’s PS+ games don’t suck this month! In fact they are AWESOME! I know, I know 6 hours ago I wouldn’t have believed a statement like that either.
I mean come on, we all know how it’s been for PS+ these last couple years. We have seen indie title after indie title come through the ranks with very little AAA content. Some months have been good, some months have been terrible! It’s been a real mixed bag when it comes to quality content from PS+.
Now I love indie games (one of the PS+ games for this month is an indie title), but the indie offerings from Sony through PS4 have for the most part being fairly subpar. I don’t know about you but most of the indie titles have felt like filler content designed to tie us over until Sony is willing to fork out the $$$ to get AAA titles like we used to have in the PS+ PS3 golden years towards the end of it’s life cycle. Now we have had a few exceptions to the indie garbage rule like Rocketleague, Outlast, Hotline Miami, TowerFall Ascension, Spelunky, Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition and The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. But for the most part the games we have received from PS+ have given the title ‘indie’ a bad name like Tower of Guns, Race the Sun, PixelJunk: Nom Nom Galaxy ect…
But WOW this month is something special. We start with Lord’s Of The Fallen a full AAA title, which had a physical release and a contains a decent amount of content. Sure it didn’t get great scores 7.4/10 IGN.com, 6/10 Steam, 71%Metacritic. But with that said it’s still a AAA game, and even if you don’t love it, you will still get an average of 15 hours out of it, which is more then I can say for most of the indie titles we have received in the past.
Now for the big one, yep they finally did it, they released the critically acclaimed title ‘Journey’ for free on PS+. If you haven’t played Journey before you are in for a treat, I can honestly say I think it’s one of the best indie titles ever created. I don’t want to spoil it for you so I won’t say anything more, other then IT’S A GREAT GAME, PLAY IT… don’t feel bad if you cry at the end… (dudes are allow to cry too ya’ know!)
So his month’s PS+ games will be pretty good, but why the change of heart Sony??? Hmmm could have something to do with the recent price hike announcement for US and Canada ps+ subscribes? Oh well, let’s just hope that Sony will continue this spirit of generosity and follow up next month with great content, after all we are paying for PS+!
